A Baby is a Blessing | Philadelphia Baby Photos

Every parent who comes to me is crazy about their baby. It’s probably one of my favorite things about this work that I do - seeing the all-consuming love that is called into existence each time a new baby enters the world. It is even more powerful with first-time parents - because, as happened with me and my family, you have no idea what you are in for, and so when you meet this little person who changes your whole life and causes this type of love that you had no idea existed before, it’s like being hit with a tsunami even though you were kind of just expecting the tide. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful. If you don’t believe me that you can see it, just look below. Dad’s face says it all.

Dad spotted this bowl in my studio - I rarely use it anymore since parts of it are coming off and I should really get rid of it. But it reminded him of his country, and I am not about to deny anyone their nostalgia. So, we needed dad to be in the photo as well. And I love what this says, what it represents: the connection between land and parent and family and child. What grounds one - their family and their connections. The things that are important to you and remind you of your childhood and can bring you back in a second to a place and time that are so meaningful and are shared by a select few who understand.
