I wanted to do the B Family justice, so here goes with a real blog post. I met Mama B at an art and craft fair on Passyunk Avenue. I had a table next to hers. She makes these awesome smelling soy lotion candles, which can be had at her website www.evanandearth.com, btw. Anyway, as we are both chatters, we started talking (Daddy B was there too, and wasn’t shy with the talk either. Love it!) Mama B was very pregnant, and it was quite hot. She was a trooper, though. I think she complained less than I did. We exchanged business cards, and, I got an email from her shortly before she was to deliver. Only, I was going on vacation and couldn’t do it. But Mama B is so sweet, with her pretty southern accent and charm. How could I say no? But, that meant I didn’t get to edit their photos for a sneak peek as quickly as I wanted to. They were so gracious, though. Even when I ran into them later on in Target, they shook their heads understandingly when I told them it would just be a few more days. Big Brother even squealed with a little excitement when he saw me, sweet boy! Patient B family, here is the rest of your sneak peek.

August 18, 2010Spidey and Brother | Main Line Child Photographer
July 18, 2010Today, I met Spiderman. He taught me about the mechanics of web shooting, explained about surfaces to which a web will not adhere, and turned me into a frog. And then his sidekick (who is also his very cute blue eyed baby brother) taught me that if “Spiderman” is too hard to say, you just call him “Bubba”. This duo had some of the prettiest blue eyes I’ve ever seen (courtesy of their mama, I believe). They were troopers for such a hot July morning. They gave each toy we presented them with at least a cursory try for a photo op. And, just as I promised Spidey, we did take some of him at the end in his costume. He was even allowed to jump off of the ottoman!
Thanks, D family. You’re too cute and it was a lot of fun!
Happiness | Philadelphia Family Photographer
July 12, 2010I had the pleasure of meeting this family on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The day before, we had to cancel at the last minute because of pouring rain, so the weather was considerably better when I arrived and was greeted by this adorable family, completed by their trusty golden companion. We started out inside, but, Mr. J had other ideas – it was much too nice outside for him to play inside for too long. And who could blame him? The heat had finally broken, and this lovely green yard beckoned. We ran around, we blew bubbles, we enticed Trooper the Dog with cookies. All in all, a fun afternoon capturing a sweet little family time.
With Leo
This dog seriously loved to be photographed. He was posing!
Sweet mama and girl time.
And, a girl and her daddy. <3
Two pals – a boy and his dog.
Thanks for the fun, S Family!
Rocker Baby | Philadelphia Child Photographer
May 10, 2010On Mother’s Day, and on everyday of my life, I am so blessed to be the mother to this incredible child. I am counting my blessings with all the other moms out there. When I think about who I was before I had this child to call me mama, I can hardly recognize that person. I miss how much free time she had, but don’t envy her one bit. I think I’m the luckiest mama alive.
I’m biased, I admit it. But I still think I was lucky to have an entire morning with this sweet, pretty girl, walking all over Philly, changing outfits, finding great little spots, laughing, and having a little snack on a gorgeous nearly summery morning. I’m biased because I’ve been best friends with her mom since we were fourteen, and remember visiting miss O in the hospital when she was born. But, I still know a pretty girl when I see one. So, thanks, Miss O, for entertaining my son, for your trick where you got yourself to not smile so much (we should all have such problems!), for wearing those awesome boots even though it was swelteringly hot, and for freaking out the angry guy behind you and your mom on the steps with your silly discussion. And thanks to you, Awesome Friend, for packing up good outfits and letting your kid stand in an alley behind a restaurant in her good clothes. Love you both!
Little Baby Sister | Philadelphia Area Teen Photographer
April 24, 2010Were you expecting a little kid and their baby sister? Nope! This is *my* baby sister. Wait, you ask, knowing I’m a lot older than this kid, how is that possible? Well, my parents called me my senior year of college to tell me that they had “exciting news” for me. I thought it was a car. No, it was a kid sister! And she’s turned out to be one of the most amazing people around. I am so proud of this girl – she’s funny, articulate, confident, beautiful, she’s a gifted writer and a talented dancer, not to mention a great aunt! I love this kid. Anyway, she’s also one of my most willing subjects, so I took her out last week with a few outfits and a bunch of ideas. She takes direction well but is also a natural at posing. Must come from all of that “America’s Next Top Model” she watches!
Anyway, here are a few from that fun session we had! Enjoy.
Appreciation | Philadelphia Tattooed Parent Photographer
March 23, 2010“Appreciation” was the subject line of an email I received this morning from an unfamiliar email address. Intrigued, I clicked on the email from “Jennifer”, as the name said.
The body of the email read,
“I was looking for Images of people with tattoos. For a project I am doing in school on discrimination on those with body art. I came across your photos and I was brought to tears. Never have I seen us with tattoos and different forms of body mod, shown is such a gentle way. I truly appreciate and enjoy your depictions of those with tattoos as gentle and loving parents which we all are.. Thank you.”
I had to share this. I hope that the people who hire me to photograph them and their children and their art do feel that this is true of how I approach and see them. Being stereotyped, misunderstood, assumed about, and otherwise thought about negatively by people who don’t even know you just plain sucks. I’ve always been someone who aims to prove people wrong (some might call that rebellious, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been called that!), and I hope that in doing that, if I can’t make them realize they’re wrong, maybe someone else will.
Thank you to all of my tattooed parents and parents to be.
What could be more perfect than this?
The Fun House | Main Line Family Photographer
March 7, 2010That’s probably how all of their friends think of their house, as “The Fun House”, because they are just so much fun. Big brother C is full of laughs, mainly brought on by his funny and very silly parents. I had a great time this morning just listening to them talk to each other and try to make each other laugh. Dad was even off to do some very fun things later, and Mom and C had big, fun plans, but they still managed to have a great time just hanging out with each other this morning. And, then there is the baby. Sweet, loveable, handsome baby B. What a love this boy is. He is handsome and cuddly, and a baby who seriously did whatever we wanted all morning, without even as much as a tiny cry when he was hungry. And the whole family, as you can see, are gorgeous. (Do you find yourself singing some Black Eyed Peas when you look at Mom? Me too.) Okay, so they’re either the fun house or the perfect house. Either way, I had a great time with them today! C and J (and C and B), you guys are awesome! I hope you enjoy the sneak peek. Can’t wait to show you the rest!
The S Family – Philadelphia Area Family Photographer
November 29, 2009Today, I spent the morning with the S Family. First, I hung out with Big Brother S, while Baby Brother M snoozed. Big Brother S taught me all about Bakugan, and also about the difference between bugs and insects.

Then, it was outside with Big Brother S for some time with Daddy.

Then, sweet Little Brother M woke up and was ready to join us! He was flashing his million watt grin all over the place!

They had some good brother time,

and then brought their Mommy in for some fun.

What a fun family these guys were! Mom had us all laughing with her stories, and Dad was the best assistant a photographer can have – he got his baby to smile! Thanks, S Family! Hope you enjoyed your sneak peek!
Kindergarteners! – Philadelphia Area Child Photographer
November 15, 2009The last of the individual portraits I finished today! I didn’t want to hold them up by waiting for the last few group shots, so I’ve uploaded Mrs. D’s class in the galleries too! (A few guests/siblings who wanted to get in on the fun are in here too). These guys were adorable. Some serious, some jokey, all sweet. What an incredible bunch of young kids this group is! I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend some time photographing these kids and to give their parents a little something different.
Here’s a student from the kindergarten class who was all smiles for me the whole time! I’m pretty sure I didn’t get one shot of this cutie where he wasn’t beaming.

And, the class photo. What a cute bunch!

Thanks, Parents, for having me out! I hope you enjoy the photos of your darlings.
