What we did not include in the shoot: Her parents' two huge Rottweilers. I'm kind of a loser for being scared to get out of the car, considering I own two pit bulls, but I was sitting in the car laughing at myself until the Daddy in this family came to "rescue" me. Then the dogs tried to lick me to death. Fail, Jamie. Fail.
What we did: one sweet little darling whose parents were so taken with her that it was a treat to see.
I'm pretty sure that this sweet girl is destined to be a Daddy's girl - it was easy to see how smitten with her he is.
And, why wouldn't you be? She is beautiful (please don't miss the teeny little light patch in her hair. Love it!)
You're really here for the pictures, though, right? Okay, enough outta me, here they are:
H Family, thank you so much for trusting these photos to me! I appreciate it very much and hope you love these photos as much as I loved creating them for you.
This session was so much fun! I love it when the planets just seem to align and everything is great.
Maybe it was the sweet, loving energy that this amazing couple had for one another, for their baby, for life in general.
Maybe it was the choice of music that I realized Dad was playing on his iPod (who wouldn't feel a little weepy realizing that you are listening to Ray LaMontagne's "You Are The Best Thing" while, well, holding the best thing that has ever happened to this young couple - especially when you can really see it in their eyes!), maybe it was just the awesome that is baby C himself.
But, whatever the reasons were, this session was great. Baby C achieved the land speed record for newborn photography (at least my newborn photography), he is adorable, and we even got some smiles! (I love when I get smiles out of a little baby, regardless of the "gas" myth or not. Because, yeah, maybe grown men smile when they "have gas" but a baby this little doesn't know it's funny. He's just happy, right?)
Anyway, enjoy these photos of this sweet little dude.
And, yeah. The fedora? So cute, right? His mom had it all ready, because his dad loves them, and they're kind of "his thing". What a sweet wife!
Then, we put baby C IN his dad's fedora. You can tell from his big smile that he liked being in there. Maybe he's a fedora man in the making.
Thank you, C family, for an awesome session and for trusting me to capture these moments for you!
This family got one heck of a Christmas present this year, huh? Definitely something good to snuggle up with when the weather is this cold. <3
When I saw this adorable baby, I definitely gave a little squee! But when I saw their gorgeous house, my mind was spinning with ways to incorporate it into their session.
Baby J and his parents are awesome. All three of them are so sweet and were up for anything! We had a great time bouncing ideas off of each other for this fun and beautiful session.
Even though his big brother Lefty wasn't a huge fan of mine, we even managed to get a few shots of him in, relaxing instead of trying to bark me out the door.
This boy really is perfect, isn't he?
I love this one. Don't let the dog in the back be lost on you!
When I saw this awesome scooter as part of their home decor, I knew I couldn't let an opportunity like this pass me by! So, all three of us worked hard to get this image - which is a composite of a few photos merged together in photoshop. In reality, there was not a time that a parent's hand wasn't on the baby.
This awesome little nook was part of a built in artist's drawers in their home. Again, when I saw it, I had to use it!
Love this one of the family bathed in gorgeous light in their living room. Everyone surrounded by all the ones they love.
Thank you, D Family, for being so game to use the cool features in your house in your baby's newborn session. I hope you will treasure these photos for years to come!
And, reader dear. There are so many awesome photos from this session! You can see more at www.facebook.com/jamiesieverphotography
Here, with the distinction of being the last baby that I photographed in 2012, is sweet baby W.
I was so excited to get to photograph this little guy: I had met his dad a few years back because I found some awesome tattoos he did and met up with him to photograph and interview him.
Getting to photograph his growing family was a lot of fun for me! Not only are they beautiful, they're sweet and awesome, too.
I love this shot of him, sleepy and content.
I think this one is my favorite from the session! I love this pose and his serious expression.
If you read this blog, you know I love the parent shots best. And a dad wearing an octopus with a fork tattoo.
Do you believe she looks this gorgeous two weeks after having a baby!? Unfair! :P
Thanks, H Family. I hope you guys enjoyed these images as much as I enjoyed taking them!

The mama of this family contacted me to come and photograph her family as they are today, in their space. They are moving from a house in which they enjoyed many great memories and wanted to document their family and their home and the way they spent their time in that space today. I loved the idea and of course said yes immediately. And what a fun, fabulous session it was. We had such a great time, because the kids wanted to show me all around their house and the things they did there, and I got to get such a great sense of who everyone is, as individuals and as a family, and how they utilized their home in their time together. From feeding the koi in the pond to meeting Polar Bear in Brother's room to reading books in Sisters room and finally to playing dinosaurs with Dad in the playroom, I got to document them and who they are today. I had so much fun doing it and I imagine it didn't stress the kids out too much since we just asked them to be themselves. That said, I love the joy and reality these photos capture. This family was just fun and sweet doing their thing.
This little chickie knows a thing or two about having fun. She can make a party out of anything!
I love me a shot of a mama lovin' on her baby.
And, also a daddy and mama lovin' on their baby.
A boy and his polar bear.
It was a pleasure to work with this fun, loving and sweet family. We laughed, we hugged, and I hope that these photos will help them to remember the fun they had as a family in this house. I wish you guys an easy move and lots more laughs and hugs in your new house.
So, I have to be honest: I fell in love with this couple when I did their maternity session, visible here. Actually, I don't know if you read her inquiry letter on Facebook, but it goes down in history as the best one ever. They're just awesome. I mean, when you want to name your baby Eglantine, how can you not be? They didn't. But they still refer to her as Egg. May I take the time to mention now that they made a papier mache egg to use in her session?! I will post it below, but, yes. In some pretty serious heat, after giving birth a few days before, Jessica and Andrew and I believe Andy's mom made an egg. Be honest, you kind of love them too.
The addition of Baby A, also known as Egg, just made them a perfect, perfect family. Knowing what a loon I was after giving birth, I am always so happy for couples who are just able to be zen about their new roles as parents. You would think these two have been at this parenting gig their whole lives. (I really was crazy. There was a story that involved crying hysterically while licking my baby. Truth. I even told that story to them. They cracked up about my lunacy.)
Below are some of my favorite shots from their session.
I am pretty sure that this mama and baby shot is my favorite ever, from any session. Love, excitement, just pure joy radiates off my screen when I look at this one. I hope Jess and Andy wallpaper a small room with this one.
Love how sweet and serene she is here.
In her egg
I love a daddy and baby image so much! Love the expression on his face here.
Thank you both so much for letting me capture this amazing time in your lives. Ma-o.
