Newborn Photographer Delaware County
Miss sweet girl arrived with her lovely mama and we got down to the business that I love, posing itty bitty babies and highlighting how adorable and perfect they are.
We also indulged in a bit of my second-favorite business, chatting and having a little coffee while the baby nurses. It's also a really favorite part of the sessions for me, because I really love getting to know people - hearing their story, finding out how people met (I don't know what it is that makes that so intriguing for me, but I love hearing the story of how people got together!), where they came from and who they are. So, I do like the downtime in sessions when we get to chat a little bit for reasons that I may label my extreme extroversion.
Soft pinks are one of my favorite things ever, second is that pink feather headband. Look at her little fingers, her sweet cheeks, her itty bitty lips. She's divine.
More pink, this time in an itty bitty bed with an itty bitty flower. I love how round she looks in this little wrap, like a little nugget. <3
Love this little smile, this little bear hat. Also, that sweet little heart is one of my favorite props ever.
Ranunculus are my favorite flowers. Pink ranunculus especially. I love her surrounded by them, and especially with one tucked behind her ear.
Mama was an exceptionally good assistant for us to get this adorable froggy pose with a half smile that can't be beat.
More pink, more perfect.
I love parent photos. Beaming daddies and overjoyed mamas make absolutely lovely subjects. I always think of the Roald Dahl quote: "If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely". I think I need to get something like this in my studio to remind some of the beautiful yet reluctant mamas to GET IN THE PHOTOS. Stepping down off of my photographer soapbox to post these last two photos now. :)
It was such a pleasure to photograph this darling family. If you want to get your own newborn photography session scheduled, please get in touch with me here.
Below, the beautiful maternity photos for this little Philadelphia baby, and now this post, her newborn photography session. I love when I get to show you "before and afters". And, I also love when I get to meet parents as "before and afters". I know that for me, I often say that people who knew me only before I had children don't know me at all, because the after is so different that I'm really not the same person anymore. That's part of why I love to meet parents to be for maternity sessions and then see them again as a new mom and dad. They've changed so much in the short space of time! (I'm actually also always surprised at how CALM most of them seem, and how capable, as I was, uh, NOT, at the time frame I usually see new parents.)
It was lovely and cool to see the parents below again and meet their new little lady. She is beautiful and I had so much fun photographing her and bringing some ideas to life that we had discussed.
I have so much fun with this pose and these little baby animal headbands. Just so cute, then when there's a smile involved! Fuggedaboutit! LOVE.
This little lady was all smiles for me. And, I'm a little bit in love with the beautiful headband that she has on here.
I adore this baby tucked into this vintage quilt in this itty bitty bed, with her fingers just like this. And, the flowers in the background. The little details are what makes an image to me.
Remember Rufus from the maternity session? He's an English setter, just in case you were keeping score at home. (Also, you know how I've mentioned I'm something of a dog savant? Didn't know this breed!)
And, I LOVE this family photo. <3 So in love, so relaxed. Just perfection.
Also - this is gorgeous right? Just beautiful and lovely.
It was such a pleasure to create these photographs to last a lifetime for your family!

I was just looking over my most recent Newborn photographer Philadelphia area blog posts. I realized that, although I blogged his parents' gorgeous maternity session here, I never actually shared his newborn photos! And, I'm sorry for that, to you, if you read my blog a lot, because omg. He is so darn cute and was so smiley. Plus, as sometimes/often happens, I fell even more in love with his peeps than I had been.
This is usually my first setup in the door when you come in for your session. Baby is typically happy to be snuggled up and wrapped up and cozy. But who knew that being snuggled up this way would elicit this!? This image wound up to be one of my favorites of 2016. I think of it among the images I am so proud to have taken this year. Mid-yawn, sweet fingers, all that hair, beautiful blue, all wrapped up, hoped for, wished for, darling boy. Love this so. We giggled and clapped when we found that I had captured it during the session.
The theme of this session was definitely "Smiles for Miles" with this little boy! (His name isn't miles - I just mean that he was smiling for days! Literally in every setup.) See?
More smiles, more adorable setups. Don't you love that hair he has?
Love him in this cute little fox setup!
And, here, more serious. That blue makes his beautiful hair pop!
Ah, another smile. <3 Joyful boy who is content in how loved he is.
Smiling again. This boy.
Now you see where it all comes from. Look at these gorgeous smiles. Look at the love you can feel absolutely radiating off of the screen. I love this photo too. I think it is one of my favorite parent/family shots from a newborn session I've taken this year.
I included this next shot because, even though it is similar (processed a little differently, too), you can see the radiating joy from both of Mr. Shiv's parents' faces. Just pure happiness, joy. This was them. The epitome of them - smiling, so happy to be together, so much love. I enjoyed working with them so much. What a beautiful family!
Thanks, sweet family, for choosing me to capture your before and after, your love of your family and of each other, your exciting start down the new path of parenthood. If you would like your new journey captured, click here to send me an email and start the conversation.
Newborn Photographer Main Line
I love when I have a maternity session, and then the new parents return with their newborn for newborn photography. I love seeing who people become as parents and how quickly that transformation happens. Isn't that wild, when you really think about it? Like, I met you a month ago and now you're Mom and Dad and parents of a person? It's crazy how the whole thing happens.
I'm sure everyone does this, but when we left the hospital after I had a baby, we were like, "They're just gonna let us leave with this kid? Just like, take this kid home? Us???" And, yet, you do. And you keep the person alive and don't drop it (errrrrm....) and it's fine.
Wait, where was I going with this?
Anyway, it was so cool when the mom and dad from the post below came in with their new little lady! It was of course great to see them again and see their transformation into parents. BUT. I was so happy when I saw this pretty little lady and her cheekies and long fingers. Pretty girl.
She was absolutely perfect in this little headband. I love her darling cheeks, fingers, nose. Oh, gosh. She's perfect, right?
LOVE this little pixie hat - I was just so swoony over all of these! Love the shape of the wrap, love how that hat comes up all gnome-y in the back, love her cheeks and beautiful little face.
It's always fun for me to get so many different angles from one pose.
Cheeks. I love this pose because I love how her face is the focus of this and her body is out of focus. And I love how her hands frame her face so well.
When your mama loves her a book... She seemed pretty relaxed about it. Future Rhodes scholar, perhaps?
The "triple lindy". Her dad rocked being my assistant for this pose! So much easier when I can actually explain it properly. I wonder if you know - this is a composite. We don't actually leave the baby like this. And, not every baby will do this pose. But she did, and she rocked it!
I haven't even shared the parent photos yet, which I totally L O V E, and I'm already over my 5 per session limit! (You saw how I snuck some extras into that one collage? Pretty sneaky, sis.)
Anyway, I should also tell you in the interest of full disclosure, that since I adored this session and the maternity session too so well, I ordered a giant display of new products I'm offering in studio of them. Want me to post it once it arrives? Let me know! Also, are you pregnant? Hoping to become pregnant? Click here to send me a message so we can get your newborn session on the books!
One of the biggest compliments that I can get from a client on my newborn photography is them returning for another newborn session when their baby's siblings arrive. I was so happy to hear that Calvin was getting a baby sister. I looked back through his newborn photos so that I could see if we could replicate any of the photos from his shoot or at least use some of the same fabrics or props. Plus, Calvin is soooo cute that I was looking forward to seeing his cute little face again.
Baby Sister arrived and she was just as adorable as her Big Brother. I had such a blast photographing them. Plus, he's such a sweet big brother. That smile. His little hand. Right? <3 He has on jeans, people. AND A VEST. Yes. Cheeks, too. Isn't he darling. And look at her. Sweet Pea.
I love this. This is life with a toddler, right? (There are some where he absolutely put his tongue back in, but how cute is this one?)
I absolutely love when parents get in the photos. Baby Sister, you are so loved.
Dad too. I'm realizing that I'm going to have to go over my "usual share number" of photos - which, in case you were wondering, is five. I figure that most people's attention span is about five. I hope you'll forgive me and keep reading.
I also got some of my most favorite posed images ever of her alone.
LOVE this. <3
Also, in love with this. Her little fingers, her perfect lips - it's the details that I always love in a photo.
We photographed Calvin on this fabric, in a similar pose, when he was in for his newborn session.
Like I said, I have a lot of favorites. Just think of all of the ones I didn't share! There are many.
It was so lovely to get to see these clients again. It's really true for me that once I meet and work with a client, they feel more like a friend. One of the best parts of the session was, when it was just quiet and the baby was feeding, getting to chat with her sweet mama. It was great to see you guys again, and to meet Baby Sister. Such a treat. Thank you all.
