How could you not love these two?  In addition to being incredibly cool and sweet (a rare combination, don’t you think?!), they are also hilarious.  Daddy to be had us all cracking up at his silly antics – In fact, when I asked Mama to be to think of a time that she laughed so hard she couldn’t breathe from him, she couldn’t narrow one down, because it happens all the time.  I can’t say I was surprised.

They are sweet and wonderful and I know that they will make the most amazing parents.  I can’t wait to meet their little one soon.  Since I don’t know whether I’m charged with confidential knowledge or not, I’ll just say that you are going to LOVE their baby to be’s name.  I know I do.

And, as is almost always the case, I was in love with every photo from this session.  Here are just a few of my favorites.  They’re a gorgeous couple, right?

My, how the time flies. People always say this about their kids, I know I say it about my own. But, it’s a little funny to be saying it about someone else’s kid, right? I photographed this guy when he was 22 days old, older than I generally photograph newborns, but he was a star. Then, I saw him again when he was six months old – we put temporary tattoos on him, he smiled at me the whole session. And now he’s one. I can’t believe that I’ve known the fabulous K family for a whole year. I love when I get to go hang out with them for a session, though. Both Mom and Dad are fun, funny, creative and cool. Dad was kind enough to teach me about the show Sons of Anarchy, which I now love. And, Mom helped me to pick out my new camera bag a while back – we always talk pretties. We all actually always just talk. I love it. I’m so lucky to have met the K family. So, happy birthday to X! And, congrats on making it through your first year, K Parents.

Oh, and we can’t forget Stella. Crazy, tree climbing Stella, who lets X kiss her and gets nervous when I get too close to him. A boy and his dog is a treasure.

A quote that I’ve heard about having a new baby that really resonates with me is this one by Elizabeth Stone, “Making the decision to have a child – it’s monumental. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.”  Now, I don’t know who Elizabeth Stone actually is, but she’s a wise woman.  It is monumental.  Nothing will ever change your life quite this way, and the part about your heart walking outside your body?  Perfect analogy.  And, every new parent I meet, no matter how bleary eyed with sleep deprivation, is still hit by just how true that phrase really is.

And, look at this baby?  How could you not be?  She is perfect in every way.  She hardly made a peep, she slept like a champ, she is just generally suited for her name Angelina in that she is truly angelic.  Having just done a maternity session with her parents, I knew they were cool, fun, down to earth people.  I knew that her mama was together like nobody’s business – finishing up one degree, starting an advanced degree, she is driven and organized in a way I can only dream of being.  Her daddy is funny and sweet, and as her mama says, really balances her out.  They’re just a perfect pair.  So, it should be no surprise to anyone who knows them that they have got this.  Like old pros at being parents.  I was grungy, not cute, in pain and generally unpleasant when my son was this tiny.  Not these two – they work like a well oiled parental machine.  A parental machine that creates really cute babies.

Enjoy the peek, guys.  I hope you love the photos as much as I loved taking them.

You would not believe how perfect this mama to be’s skin was. I could not believe that she made it through this much of her pregnancy with not a single stretch mark, but she did. Her belly is perfect. She attributes it to faithful lotion application, but I think it’s gotta be good genes. Either way, that perfect belly was attached to the lovely Jess, who is also attached to the equally lovely Kevin. (Although I couldn’t remember his name was Kevin at first. Embarrassing. I stink at names.) Even after I showed up at her mom’s house and the session was subsequently moved there, Jess and Kevin were sweet and funny, and you could see how much fun they have together. This little baby on the way is one lucky girl to have such loving parents! Thanks, guys, for being so gracious about me calling Kevin “you” that time and for, uh, not coming to your house. I can’t wait to meet your little one and hope she is on the way soon!
I had to use some restraint and not post all of the pictures from their session – I had so many favorites!

I’m always impressed when parents have the restraint to be surprised by the sex of their baby in the delivery room. But this family was really surprised, to even be there in the first place! This little girl decided to make her entrance three weeks early! She just couldn’t wait to meet them! And with good reason, quite honestly. They are awesome – such a great, supportive team for each other already. Mama has this mommy thing down, even her own mom was impressed. Daddy, too. And, he is just in love with his little girl, too, there was no hiding that. It was easy to see all of the love in this house!
Anyway, thanks, J and J, your baby is darling. I know you know that, I only told you ten million times. And, thank you, baby H, for waiting until I was done! Can’t wait to show you the rest of these. And there are a lot! :)
