Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Tattooed Mom

I posted recently on my Facebook page about an inquiry I received a little while ago from a mom-to-be. I called it my favorite inquiry in recent memory, but the truth is, it might actually be my favorite session inquiry ever. Now, when she told me that she found me from “the great googler”, she had me already. But then, I read on, and found this:

I will be a tattooed mom. Recently while at Disney a women approached
me and told me I should be ashamed of myself because I am pregnant and
tattooed (and unmarried – welcome to 2012, Lady). I never even thought
of the two as a juxtaposition but she took me by surprise – she was
disgusted. So in the spirit of the ‘f you’ I want my maternity
photos to capture my tattoos as well. I like your work and am
interested in some information. I do not
want something too traditional and I don’t think I want to be naked
unless you can photo shop away cellulite and stretch marks I am
hoping to do the shoot closer to my due date and am shopping around
now. I am due june 1 and was hoping early May for the shoot. We live
in xxx and work in Philly. Thanks for your time and I look
forward to hearing from you.

You tell me you wouldn’t fall in love with someone like that! So, I knew I needed to do this session. This is what I talk about when I talk about “finding my people” or my people finding me, rather.

And, do the session we did. Where else would we start but Tattooed Mom’s on South Street?! You know we had to!

We moved on to capture some beautiful sunlight at a park, and I got to see the fun-loving and each-other-loving-ness of this couple. It was so sweet to witness how much they truly enjoy each other!

I was loving all of that beautiful light, too! And, let’s just talk for a minute about how being pregnant totally suits this beautiful woman. She is positively glowing and beaming, isn’t she?

Hey, a baby is totally cause for celebration!

There’s Nothing Like Family | Main Line Family Portraits

I was happy to meet up with this family again for updated portraits, this time with a twist. The grandparents have been present for some of our sessions before – namely the baby’s newborn session, but this was a kid session that we did with the grandparents. I am sure that Pop and Teddy gave serious points to the thoughtful daughter who gifted them this session with their grandkids! The S Family is one of my favorites – Big Brother N always makes me smile! He is so sweet, and so full of personality, and he is the perfect little gentleman. He is always offering to help me during our sessions – whether he is carrying my stepladder or helping me find a good location for us to shoot. It is a pleasure to be around this sweet guy. And, Baby G. I have a soft spot for Baby G because he is darling and because his newborn session yielded one of my favorite photos ever, but mostly because he is so sweet. And, then there’s A. What can you say about her? Well, her family nickname is Bear – so, there’s that! She is adorable, spunky, funny and well, fast. One of my favorite parts of this family session was getting Bear in a few quiet moments of having her attention totally captured by a little detail, in this case a flower.

Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | Perfect In Every Way (Part One)

Sometimes, when I pack up my things and head to a newborn session, I wonder what they’ll be like. Well, I always do that. And, I also always rock out to two decidedly-not-for-newborns songs on my way to every session, but I digress. So, when I headed to meet up with this family, I did my usual daydreaming. But, when I walked in and met Grandma, she knocked my socks right off. First, her home was covered in photos. And, I don’t just mean school photos of her boys when they were kids, either. Yes, Grandma had those, but she also had photos of her grandmother, her mother, her siblings, photos of entire sorority houses from at least a generation ahead of her, and then some. I didn’t know where to look first, but look I did. Her walls were lined with her family’s history and she was kind enough to share some of it with me.

She was also kind enough to share some of her cooking with me, too. You see, this session took place on Baby M’s daddy’s birthday, so Grandma had a “little brunch” for Daddy. Only, Grandma’s idea of a little brunch would have you or I cooking for days! When she offered me some, I tried to decline and say that I had brought water with me. This did not appease Grandma. So, I relented and had a bit of her delicious brunch, and got to sit and hear a bit about the family history. (I did work, I promise! Baby M was eating, too!) And then, the star of the hour was there. I think I gasped when I saw him! You will too. He was the sweetest, best little model – just a photographer’s dream to work with. I swear, I am lucky because the parents of the prettiest babies in Philadelphia seem to hire me!

Don’t you agree? (I have so many photos that I can’t fit them all in one blog post. More to come, too.) I love these so much, I was even internally arguing with myself about which to post first in this blog post.

This one is for sure one of my favorites. Daddies and their babies just get me.

How could you not love that sweet little smile? Do you see those dimples?!

Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | New Website!

Hey, all. I’m excited to tell you that I’ve been hard at work refining some of my branding and product offerings. One of the new products that I’m super excited about are metal prints. Not only are they gorgeous, I feel that they really suit my photographs and the needs of my clients, too. They don’t require framing and they come ready to hang. And, on top of that, they’re unique and modern, just like you guys. Pictures coming in another post, I promise.

But, the news I’m the most excited to tell you about is MY NEW WEBSITE! I’m so in love with it – this is the welcome page below and I just love everything about it. You can see it in all of it’s glory at www.jamiesiever.com. It’s easy to navigate, shows images really large and, best of all, has no music. Personally, I can’t scramble fast enough to turn off music when I come across it on a website and I’m figuring that I’m not in the minority on this one. What say you? Think you’ll miss it or are you happy that I spared your ears?

Lots of other exciting things in the works and I can’t wait to share them with you all.

Philadelphia Family Portraits | Mommy and Me Mother’s Day 2012 Mini Sessions

She already has the greatest gift she’s ever been given: her children. So, it’s not like you can compete on that one. This year, give her what she really wants for Mother’s Day – pictures of herself with the most important little people in her life. Make sure you build in time to watch those little people while she gets ready, too. She wants to look good in the photos!

I know, I’ve been there. All I want every year for Mother’s Day are photos with my sweet son. And, even though I am a photographer myself, I still hire someone for this purpose myself.

I only offer mini sessions twice a year – once for holiday cards and once so that Mama can get hers. So, this year, give her something she’ll treasure. Not like last year’s vacuum.
