Tattooed Parents

March 4, 2010

Tattooed parents are some of my favorite subjects.  Not only have I encountered some of the most beautiful artwork in meeting my tattooed clients, but I’ve also taken some incredible pictures of the contrast of inked skin against new baby skin, and I think it’s some of my most favorite work I do.  The first tattooed person I photographed was a tattoo artist and her newborn son, and the photos are surely not my best work to date, but they sparked a passion in me when I saw how stunning the work on mama’s arms looked cradling her perfect tiny son.  I was instantly hooked, and knew that I wanted to make this type of work a focus of my photography.

I’ve always loved to do things differently than other people.  I prefer unusual.  I love unexpected.  So, for me, it makes sense to do something traditional like photography but do it in a very un-traditional way.

When we schedule your session, I’ll talk to you about where your tattoos are,  and we’ll talk about a location and clothing that’s the most flattering and least distracting from what’s important – capturing your unique family as they are.
