Springfield Newborn Photography | To The Moon and Back

I’m not a shopper. I typically hate shopping, whether it’s shopping for myself or even shopping for my family. It’s just not my favorite thing to do. Anyone who knows my family knows that my husband is the one who truly loves shopping like, well, like I love fries. He shops for pretty much everyone in our family - and anything I have that’s stylish, hip, fancy or cool, I have because my husband bought it for me. That’s legit not an exaggeration. He bought me salon clips last week to style my hair since I was just making little ponytails and he thought that was ridiculous.

However, there is one thing I like to shop for: PROPS FOR MY STUDIO. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I still don’t run out and buy everything I like or see. I have to be convinced it’s timeless, will get a lot of use, and is useable for any session.

And, so, I’ve had my eye on this moon bowl for a while because it really does tick all three of the above mentioned boxes. I watched it and waited, because it was always sold out and also because it shipped from Canada. I don’t know why that was for some reason a big thing for me but it was. Just go with it. :P

But, the person was selling out of them, like not making any more. That was all the motivation I needed! I snagged this one and I’ve been using it in almost every session since. I love it so much.

I love to be able to change up the look of a photo by changing up the headwear. Moons become an adorable hat with bear ears! Love it. I like how it give the parents options.

I created this setup for a family who have an Instagram account dedicated to trying all of the pizza in the Philly/tri-state area. That is an Instagram account that I can get behind! But, since then, people love this setup and I get to use it a lot. I mean, who doesn't love pizza?!

Froggy pose, how I love you. You are my favorite. I love how peaceful she looks here and I love this pose. It is perfect for her glorious cheeks and sweet baby arms.

Also, as a reminder, this pose should always be done as a composite of two images. The baby is held at the wrists and at the forehead, and then the images are composited together in photoshop, as shown below. This video is sped up 16x - it typically takes anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes to composite an image such as this one.
